Documenta Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for Documenta for Mac: no data collected, no Internet access, and documents and preferences that stay on your Mac.

Updated November 4, 2026

Documenta is a Mac app that does not collect, store or transmit any personal data.

No data collection

  • The app has no network access: the macOS sandbox prevents any Internet connection.
  • There are no accounts, sign-ups, analytics, advertising or third-party SDKs.
  • The documents you open, edit and save stay on your Mac (or in the cloud service you chose yourself, such as iCloud Drive, managed by the system).

Data that stays on your Mac

  • Preferences (zoom, ruler, inspector, word count, personal text replacements) in the app settings.
  • Personal dictionary: the words you add, in the app settings; they are also taught to the macOS spell checker, which keeps them on your Mac.
  • Personal templates: the documents you save as a template, in the app’s Application Support folder.
  • Performance reports: through MetricKit, macOS gives the app anonymous reports on launch times, hangs and crashes. The app keeps them for about a month in its Application Support folder and does not send them to anyone.
  • Recent documents: managed by macOS in the File menu.

None of this data is read by us or sent anywhere.
