What is DomoMeter

DomoMeter is a native mobile application for iOS and Android engineered to monitor and understand household electricity, gas, and water consumption through manual meter readings.

Designed to eliminate scattered paper utility bills, notebooks, and complicated spreadsheets, DomoMeter aggregates all your home meters into an intuitive dashboard with clear usage trends, period comparisons, and proactive budget projections.

Core Principles

1. Zero-Account Privacy & Offline-First Design

  • No registration required: no account creation, emails, or passwords.
  • Your data stays on your device: meter entries and history stay exclusively in local secure storage.
  • Completely free: zero advertisements, zero analytics tracking, and no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

2. Time-Proportional Prorated Consumption Model

Domestic utility meters present cumulative counters. When you record two readings at different dates, DomoMeter determines the net difference (delta). If your readings span across calendar month boundaries, the calculation engine divides consumption proportionally according to the exact number of days spent in each month. This ensures month-over-month graphs remain meaningful even when readings are recorded on irregular days.

3. Italian & EU Electricity Time Bands (F1, F2, F3)

For electric meters, DomoMeter supports both standard flat rates and the three European peak/off-peak pricing bands (F1 peak hours, F2 mid-peak hours, F3 off-peak hours and weekends), helping you plan appliance usage effectively.

Quick Workflow

  1. Enable Utilities: activate the utilities you wish to track (Electricity, Gas, Water) and select your preferred measurement units (kWh, Smc, Litres, or Cubic Meters).
  2. Add Initial Reading: record your meter’s starting reading today.
  3. Log Periodic Readings: at month-end or whenever you inspect your utility box, enter the new cumulative value. DomoMeter immediately updates calculations and charts.
  4. Monitor Budgets: set yearly caps and check alerts to ensure consumption remains within target limits.
